Luke Ekstrand, a spring 2024 graduate of the University of Central Missouri’s Crisis and Disaster Management (CDM) program, gained a number of valuable experiences in his practicum with the City of Independence ranging from assisting with community outreach at the Missouri State Fair to participating in a family and friends reunification exercise in Kansas City.

Three Missouri and two Kansas members of Congress serving constituents in the greater Kansas City area forwarded a joint letter Tuesday to the U.S. Postal Service demanding action to rectify problems with missing or delayed mail and protracted periods in which no mail was delivered at all.

WARRENSBURG — Carpenter Media Group and Phillips Media Group announced Friday, Aug. 30 they have reached an agreement for CMG to acquire the Warrensburg Star-Journal and Sedalia Democrat, along with PMG’s other 14 papers spread across Arkansas, Missouri and Illinois.

Chilhowee driver seriously injured in Johnson County mishap
Intoxicated driver seriously injured in Johnson County accident
Gabriel A. Laclair, 43, was arrested on Aug. 12 for peace disturbance as he was attempting to break into a residence in the 1000 block of Cheatham Court. He was transported to the Warrensburg Police Department, processed and released.
Inoky Joseph, 19, was arrested on Aug. 5 for domestic assault. Officers were dispatched to the 400 block of Ming Street in reference to a domestic disturbance. A female subject reported that she was assaulted by a known male subject. He was transported to the Warrensburg Police Department, booked and released with a citation.
